What Makes Our Custom Damascus Crusades Sword Stand Out?
Our Custom Damascus Crusades Sword pairs a 25 inch Damascus steel blade with a handle of rosewood and leather wrapped bone, finished with a brass pommel and a cowhide leather sheath.
The design follows the knightly arming swords of the Crusades era, with a straight double edged blade and the cross shaped hilt that defined European swords of the period.
Every blade etches to its own pattern, and each handle is shaped and wrapped by hand. Collectors drawn to the military orders of the same era can compare the handmade medieval Damascus Templar knight sword.

What Is a Crusades Era Sword?
Knights of the 11th to 13th centuries carried the arming sword, a one handed, double edged blade worn at the hip and used alongside a shield.
Its long straight cross guard gave the hilt a cruciform shape, and swords of the period often carried a heavy pommel to balance the blade. Our sword keeps that classic outline at a length suited to display and collection.
Why Damascus Steel for the Blade?
Damascus is built by forge welding layers of high carbon steel, then folding and drawing the billet until the layers number in the hundreds.
After heat treatment, an acid etch darkens one steel more than the other and brings the pattern up along the full length of the blade. The pattern runs through the steel rather than sitting on it, so it holds through handling and polishing.
What Does the Rosewood and Leather Wrapped Bone Handle Offer?
Rosewood brings a dense, naturally oily wood with deep reddish brown grain, while the leather wrapped bone section gives a firm, textured hold.
Leather grips were common on medieval swords because they stay secure in the hand and soften the feel of the hilt. Colour, grain and wrap vary slightly from sword to sword because each handle is finished by hand.
What Does the Brass Pommel Add?
The pommel sits at the end of the hilt and adds weight behind the hand, pulling the balance point back toward the grip.
Brass gives a warm golden accent against the Damascus and rosewood, and it develops a soft patina over time. More medieval and Viking profiles with different fittings sit in our handmade sword collection.
What Does the Leather Sheath Do?
The cowhide sheath protects the blade and edge during storage and transport and gives the sword a finished look on display.
Leather holds moisture, so the blade should rest outside the sheath for long term storage and go back in only when clean and dry.
How Should the Sword Be Maintained?
Wipe the blade clean and dry after handling and apply a thin coat of mineral oil, since Damascus contains high carbon steel and will rust if left damp. Our guide on how to care for Damascus steel covers the full routine.
Condition the leather wrap occasionally, oil the rosewood now and then, and store the sword in a room with steady humidity.
Why Choose Our Custom Damascus Crusades Sword?
Our sword combines a 25 inch Damascus blade, a rosewood and leather wrapped bone handle, a brass pommel and a cowhide leather sheath. It suits collectors, medieval history enthusiasts and reenactment displays, and pairs well with our Damascus steel axes in a period themed collection.
